Safer Gambling
Golden Jackpot List wants gambling to stay what it should be: entertainment, paid for with money you can comfortably spare, enjoyed in sessions you choose to start and stop. This page gathers the tools every licensed UK casino must offer, the national schemes that sit above individual operators, and the people to call — free, at any hour — if play stops feeling like fun. None of it is a lecture. All of it works.
Tools built into every licensed casino
Deposit limits
You can cap how much you deposit per day, week or month. Since October 2025 every operator licensed by the UK Gambling Commission must invite you to set a deposit limit before your first deposit. Decide the figure calmly, before you have played, and treat it as a budget rather than a target. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately; raising one is deliberately delayed by at least 24 hours.
Time limits and reality checks
Session reminders interrupt play at an interval you choose — every 30 or 60 minutes, say — to show how long you have played and how much you have won or lost. They are the simplest antidote to losing track of time.
Cool-off periods and time-outs
A time-out locks your account for anything from 24 hours to six weeks. It is a good response to a bad night: nothing permanent, just a pause you cannot talk yourself out of.
Account history
Licensed casinos must let you see your full deposit, withdrawal and betting history. A quick look at the net figure over the last three months is often the most honest conversation you will have about your play.
Self-exclusion
Every operator offers self-exclusion from its own site for a minimum of six months. To exclude from every site at once, use GAMSTOP, below.
GAMSTOP — national self-exclusion
GAMSTOP is the free scheme that blocks you from every online casino, bingo, poker and betting site licensed in Great Britain with a single registration. You choose six months, one year or five years; the block cannot be lifted early, and when the period ends it stays in place until you actively ask for it to be removed. Registration takes a few minutes and needs only basic identity details.
Blocking software and bank blocks
Gamban blocks gambling websites and apps across all your devices, and is available free to UK residents through TalkBanStop, a partnership between GamCare, Gamban and GAMSTOP. Most UK banks — including Monzo, Starling, Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest and Santander — offer a gambling-transaction block in their app, usually with a cooling-off period of 48 or 72 hours before it can be turned off.

A quick self-check
Answer honestly. More than one “yes” is a good reason to set a limit or take a break.
- Do you gamble with money you need for bills, rent or food?
- Have you gone back another day to try to win back money you lost?
- Do you gamble for longer, or with larger stakes, than you planned to?
- Have you hidden your gambling, or lied about it, to people close to you?
- Do you feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down?
- Has gambling caused arguments, missed work or borrowed money?
Under 18? Gambling is not for you
Online gambling in the UK is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Licensed casinos verify age and identity before allowing play, and accounts found to belong to minors are closed with any winnings forfeited. If you are worried about a young person’s gambling, GamCare’s helpline supports family members and friends as well as gamblers themselves.
What we do on this site
We only list casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, we show the 18+ age requirement and responsible-gambling links on every page, and we describe bonuses with their real conditions rather than headline numbers. If you think anything on the site encourages unsafe play, tell us at info@goldenjackpotlistuk.com and we will look at it straight away.
